Lose Pounds Quick
How do I lose pounds quick? That’s the million dollar question. For the most part, its not about losing pounds quickly but keeping those pounds off for good!
Let’s begin with a diet that is high in protein but low in carbs. A low carb diet, if done correctly, will put your body in a state of ketosis (fat burning metabolism).
Stay away from sugar, flour anything refined. Eat food the way your ancestors intended you to eat. Such as steak with salad. Bacon and eggs. There is nothing added to these items. Simple is better.
Sodas, cut them out! Have you looked at the nutritional label lately on a bottle of pop? Let me tell you, OMG! Some of them have 28 grams of sugar and 20-30 grams of sodium per serving. Let me remind you, a serving is 8 oz. This equals one measuring cup.
Talk about water retention and not to mention all those liquid calories you’re washing down your gullet. Oh, I almost forgot the damage the sugar in sodas can damage your teeth. Tooth decay, does soda still sound so irresistible?
Stay away from processed food. The food industry puts all kinds of preservatives in the food to keep it edible. What that means to you? Sodium or in other words BLOATED! Stick to eating small servings of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Drink a lot of water. At least 8 glasses a day. I know that sounds like a lot. But you need the water to flush out the fat and toxins that are built up in your body from eating over processed food. Water not only helps people lose weight. It also helps skin appear healthier. You will even feel more vibrant.
Do you have a sweet tooth? Most of the cakes, pastries, candies, etc… Have an enormous amount of fat and calories in each serving. Don’t think you can do without your chocolate fix? Try eating a piece of dark chocolate. It actually has healthy anti oxidants.
I am not a fan of the liquid diets but that is an option to consider. Remember to drink shakes that are high in protein. Throw in a few pieces of fruit to make a fruit smoothie. Be sure to watch those calories though.
There are quite a bit of options out there on how to lose pounds quick. But most importantly be safe! Make healthy life long diet decisions. Like drink more water, cut down on sodas and sweets. After all, its your body and you only get one. So treat yourself right.

The Cardiologist Way to Lose Weight
Studies have shown that there are many Americans who are overweight or obese. This can be blamed on processed foods, sodas and those who cooked it but the one really responsible is the person who bought it.
Nobody went up to the individual and forced the customer to buy a Big Mac. It was a matter of choice and this will just add more calories into the persons system.
It doesnt take a doctor to tell the individual that one is overweight. This can be seen in the mirror or on the weighing scale. At one point or another, the person will realize that this has got to stop before something bad happens.
Luckily, there are many diets to choose from that can eventually make those excess pounds go away.
One good example is the South Beach Diet that was invented by a cardiologist by the name of Dr. Agastson. This works in three phases and involves a lot of discipline on the part of the person in order to lose weight.
The first two stages are done over a 2-week period respectively. This will involve refraining from eating things such as bread bread, potatoes, baked foods, fruit and any type of alcohol including beer.
In the third week which is the beginning of phase 2, some of the food that were not allowed to eaten can be returned to the normal eating habit. These will include fruits and vegetables.
The last phase is all about maintenance. This means the individual will have to maintain the progress that has been accomplished in the first month after trying this diet until this becomes normal for the subject to do.
The person should drink a lot of water and stay away from alcohol. Instead of drinking coffee, the individual can have tea, some low fat yogurt or milk and fresh juices.
Most of dietary programs suggest exercising to help in losing weight. The South Beach Diet doesnt need that since eating less will force the body to speed up the metabolism. In any case, there is nothing helping the body by sweating it out in any physical activity.
Does this require exercising to help in losing weight? People who have been interviewed have claimed that this is not needed to get rid of those extra pounds. This is because the body will be forced to burn more calories because of the limited intake.
The South Beach Diet is one of the most popular diet programs in the market. This is available in the bookstore so the person can read and learn how losing weight can become a reality.

Flat Abs Diet When Exercise Alone Isnt Working
The flat abs diet has six core principles that will help you to lose belly fat and have a sleeker body all around. Even if you cant get rid of your gut through endless crunches, you should see success with this flat abs diet. That is because new research has show that what you eat may be just as important as how much you exercise.
The first important step is to eat more fiber. You should eat at least 25 grams of fiber a day. The reason is that bulk fiber is like a sponge which, when combined with water, moves the fat through your body more quickly.
The best high fiber foods are fruits and vegetables. In addition to having a lot of fiber naturally, fruits and vegetables are very low in calories. Whole grains are preferable to processed flours for the same reason.
Part of what makes natural food so good for you is the chew factor. It takes longer to eat these foods, so your brain has time to get the signals that your stomach is sending that it is full. Researchers have found that eating high fiber plant food with any meal reduces the average amount of calories by 100.
The next step is to opt for a sensible amount of high quality carbs. The flat abs diet does not require that you dramatically limit your carbohydrates the way the Adkins or South Beach plans do. However, if you want to lose your belly fat, you will have to control your carb intake.
Again, fruits and vegetables provide the highest quality carbs available. They are the foods least likely to promote bloat. Because they are composed of a lot of water, they have fewer calories and carbs for their volume.
You should have no more than 65 percent of your diet in carbs. That means that on an 1800 calorie diet, you will have between 200 and 300 grams of carbs. On the Adkins diet, you can have no more than 35 grams of carbs, so as you can see the flat abs diet is more generous.
Next, you want to drink lots of water at least eight 8-ounce glasses a day.
Many people think that drinking water will make them bloat when the opposite is actually true. Water washes away the sodium in the body and thus reduces bloat.
If you are having trouble consuming that much water, try these variations:
Drink 2 glasses of lukewarm water twice a day. It is easier to consume lots of water in a single setting if it is not ice cold.
If you like cold water, freeze fruit or small pieces of fruit and float it in your water. It will keep the water cold and add a nice flavor to it.
Use small amounts of fruit juice or other extracts such as mint to flavor the water.
Along those lines, tip number 4 on the flat abs diet is to avoid sodium wherever possible. A woman needs 500 mg. of sodium to keep her body functioning regularly but the average American woman gets between 3000 and 6000 mg. daily. If you eat a typical meal at a Chinese restaurant, you will get about 3000 mg. of sodium. The body responds to this sodium intake by retaining water. The next day, you will see the result on the scale and in the mirror. Its not that the Chinese food added too many calories its that it has so much sodium.
The next bit of advice is to not eat too much at night. When you put food in your body less than three hours before going to sleep, it causes you to bloat. Plan to shut down the kitchen after a light to moderate dinner. If you must eat, consider limiting it to a snack of 100 calories or less. A cup of tea can often satisfy your need for food after dinner.
Finally, the last bit of advice on our flat abs diet has nothing to do with food at all. Instead, you will want to work on reducing stress.
Stress triggers the hormone cortisol which turns up your appetite and directs your body to deposit fat around your abdomen. One way to eliminate stress (and lose weight) is to exercise. You should also practice ways of relaxing when you get into a stressful situation.
So, there you have it. When exercise alone isnt working to remove your belly fat, try the flat abs diet.

Healthy Weight Loss
Healthy Weight Loss
David McCormick
I am Mr. Weightless, and though I may be a superhero, and I may be immune to heart disease and cancer, still Mr. Weightless can catch a cold. Being fit means that it is very rare that I get sick, but a virus is a virus, and I caught a cold. Although I felt miserable, there came some good of it, because I came to a realization that will simplify how you can think about good health and weight loss: Take the advice for the sick, even while you’re well.
Why Is This Advice for the Ill?
All of the things we tell sick people so that they recover more quickly are exactly the things that we should be doing every day. Following that advice will not only ward off disease, but also lead to greater energy and vitality, and best of all, weight loss. How we came to ignore these positive factors in our daily lives, I don’t know.
In our society, we have a tendency to put off what is most healthy because we think it is inconvenient. When we get sick and can’t perform our “more important” jobs, then we make the decision to do what is best for the body. If we took these simple pieces of advice in our regular routines, we would be sick fewer days. So for those who think their work is more important than their health… if you take care of your health first, you’ll be able to work longer and take fewer sick days, so you’ll accomplish more work!

Fluid Intake
“Drink plenty of fluids” is the thing everybody says whenever someone says they have a cold. Drinking water and natural fruit juices is so easy, yet most people don’t do it. There are a myriad of benefits to drinking water all day, which you can find in my article on Water. Drink a lot of water all day. The improvements to your digestion, energy balance, joint health, skin health and the function of virtually every organ will astonish you. You will start losing weight right away when you drink at least your quota of 8 glasses of water per day. And there is no danger of drinking too much water, so you don’t need to keep track or count glasses, just keep drinking it.
Natural fruit juices are also great for you. They contain sugars to give you energy, but won’t dehydrate you like caffeine will. They also contain all of the other vitamins and nutrients from the fruits themselves. In the case of citrus fruits, like oranges, vitamin C comes in high concentrations. We’ll get to the vitamins in the next section. Other juices are good for different reasons, but remember that there is no such thing as a “bad” natural fruit juice. Many natural juices are also fortified with calcium, which is another excellent nutrient that will not only strengthen your bones and prevent osteoporosis when you grow older, but it is also related to fat loss.
No matter how good the label looks, do not drink artificial fruit-flavoured juice, because those only contain sugar, water and flavouring.
Vitamins and Herbs
Many people suggest high doses of vitamin C to cure the common cold. It is such a good nutrient, it should be taken daily, whether you’re sick or not. Vitamin C, ascorbic acid, is known to boost the immune system, which is why it is recommended for treatment of the common cold. But a good immune system is always beneficial; it is better to prevent getting a cold by having a strong immune system than to treat it once you’re sick. Vitamin C is also a most powerful antioxident, which means that it prevents all sorts of cellular decay and counteracts cancer-causing carcinogens. Finally, vitamin C boosts the production of adrenaline, which will boost your feeling of wakefulness, energy and speed your metabolism, supporting weight loss.
Vitamin C is not the only supplement that sick people are told to take. My mother is particularly fond of echinacea. This is an herb that also boosts the immune system. It has proven effective in treating the common cold, but unlike vitamin C, it does not show a significant effect on healthy people.
Taking a multivitamin everyday that contains high doses of vitamin C, as well as a full complement of other vitamins, minerals and essential nutrients is a positive step for anyone. It is virtually impossible to get every nutrient that you should every day unless you take a multivitamin. For those attempting to lose body fat by reducing their food intake, it becomes essential. Not only will you replace the nutrients you’re not getting from your restricted diet, you’re also packing in those nutrients that can speed up your weight loss.

Chicken Noodle Soup and Other Good Food
When you’re sick, you may have a friend who offers to take care of you and make you some chicken noodle soup. There are a lot of theories about why chicken soup may be good for you when you have a cold. Some say that it’s just the steam and hot liquid that opens up the airways; others claim that it inhibits neutrophils, white blood cells responsible for inflammation. My theory is simpler: chicken noodle and chicken vegetable soups are just good food, and should be consumed regularly. In a tasty meal, you’ve got protein from the chicken, carbs from the noodles and/or vegetables, spices and seasoning that have herbal benefits, and the chicken fat as well. A good rule of thumb is to eat simple, good food that has these properties.
An easier, faster way to get such a balanced meal (more complete than even chicken soup) is to have a meal replacement for two meals a day. These can be found on the Products page, click here.
Sleep
The final and most important ingredient to beating a cold is rest. Of everything discussed in this article, it is also the element that most modern men disregard. Even when sick, we tend to get up and do some work, rather than concentrating on getting well. Sleep is the time your body and mind recuperate from the day’s activities. Without sufficient sleep, your body cannot heal properly, and your mind cannot function properly. There have been some studies that show that sleep deprivation can lead to overeating and obesity, due to the elevation of certain hormones.
Sleep recommendations have varied tremendously in all the studies done. Most people today believe that 8 hours is the optimum duration of sleep. However, some adults can’t bring themselves to sleep longer than 6 hours, and many will sleep for 10 if not awoken by an alarm. The need for sleep steadily declines throughout your life. A baby can sleep as much as 18 hours a day, but it will come at odd times until their rhythms match their parents. So, it seems like they never sleep because they’re always crying in the middle of the night, but they’re sleeping a lot of the rest of the time. In contrast, the elderly awake early and frequently cannot fall asleep until very late. Some may nap frequently, but in all, they are awake far longer than most adults.
The amount of sleep any person needs seems to be quite individualistic. To find your perfect sleep duration, try waking up at the same time every day for work, but go to bed one half-hour earlier each night. You may not feel comfortable right away, but you’ll probably fall asleep within 10 minutes. Eventually, you will find a time that is ideal in that you will fall asleep easily and wake up feeling really energetic. On a weekend, you can test your theory by going to bed when you feel tired, and not set an alarm to wake you. When you wake up, write a note of the time you first woke up (in case you want to sleep in further). Then it is a simple matter to figure out how long your body wants to sleep.
Sleep is not the only component of rest. People will actually tell you to “take it easy” to help you recover. This is also a good idea for everyday life, not only when you’re ill. Learn to take time every day to relax. There have been many books and studies on the benefits of meditation. None that I know of relate meditation to weight loss, but it is related to a reduction of stress. Lower stress levels will reduce your risk of heart disease, and if you’re an “emotional eater”, then reducing your stress through meditation can be a big step towards weight loss.
Feeling Under the Weather?
Until you become weightless, like me, you’ll be “under the weather” because the clouds are above you. So, every day behave as if you’re under the weather: drink plenty of fluids, especially water and natural fruit juices; take a multivitamin and the proven herbal health boosters; eat natural food in good proportions; and get adequate sleep, including meditation or some form of relaxation.
